Best Quote Of 2007

By Chris Rock,

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the US of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and three of the most powerful men in America are named Bush, Dick, and Colon"

ATM: Disturbia

Rear Window re-write that had just enough to keep me interested….for a PG-13 thriller. Throw and R on that bad boy and let the neighbor chick swim naked - then this would be a classic.

ATM: Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Imagine this, a quirky movie from Wes Anderson. I know it's a stretch, but that's what you get here. I thought this was pretty good, although I'm glad I didn't drop any green on this at the theatre. The highlight for me was listening to Seu George's fantastic Bowie covers.

JOTD: Deadbeat in a Bar

A man walked into a bar on a slow night and sat down. After a few minutes, the bartender asked him if he wanted a drink.

He replied, "No thanks. I don't drink. I tried it once, but I didn't like it."

So the bartender said, "Well, would you like a cigarette?"

But the man said, "No thanks. I don't smoke. I tried it once, but I didn't like it."

The bartender asked him if he'd like to play a game of pool, and again the man said, "No thanks. I don't like pool. I tried it once, but I didn't like it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be here at all, but I'm waiting for my son."

The bartender said, "Your only son, I'm guessing."

ATM: Planet Terror

Robert Rodriguez's half of GRINDHOUSE. Great gore and interesting story. The Zombies weren't typical which was OK - my only question is how did Candy fire her gun-leg....and when will Tarantino stop acting.

RIF: If I Did It

Why was this written again? Not interesting or revealing.

ATM: The Bourne Supremecy

Not as good as the first, but better than most spy films.

ATM: 10 Things I Hate About You

Precictable John Hughes ripoff bullshit teen comedy. Pretty much a waste of time.

ATM: Bottle Rocket

I saw BOTTLE ROCKET for the second time last night. I enjoyed it more the first time but still a very good movie and worth checking out even though outside of the Wilson Brothers, the other actors are just reading their lines.

ATM: No Country For Old Men

Classic crime drama from the Cohen brothers. Bardem's character is one of the great sociopaths of all time.

ATM: The Bourne Identity

Great movie - it would have been more fun to see at the theatre.

ATM: The Break-Up

This felt like THE WAR OF THE ROSES on whussy pills - that's not to say I didn't like the film. I really did and it was fun to see all the Chicago sites.

ATM: The Grudge 2

One of the better sequels I've seen - equally as creepy as the first but when will it end?

ATM: Tommy

I'm a huge WHO fan so I eventually had to see this. I'm kind of sorry that I did - what a pile of shit. A Rock Star playing the Mesiah - what a stretch. The first half was cool as my back medication (soma) kicked in right around Tina Turners performance. Elton John was kind of bizarrely cool as well. The highlight had to be Ann Margaret rolling around in the baked beans - I heard she was nominated for an Oscar for this performance - bravo!

ATM: The Bee Movie

I saw this at the drive-in with my daughter's girl scout troop. Seemed like a real good movie even though I missed 30 minutes or so.

ATM: The Grudge

More creepy than scary but definately worth seeing:

ATM: Carnal Knowledge

Outdated but still fun to watch Nicholson....Oh yeah and Ann Margaret naked is not a bad thing. Well maybe if she were to try it today but back then....wow!
